About the Competition
Please note that this competition is only open to students in the Youth Symphony.
Students are required to play one movement of a concerto of their choice. For the audition, the piece should not exceed 8 minutes, so cuts should be made if needed. All contestants must have their concerto approved by BSYO Conductor Nick Eggen before entering the competition.
The entry fee for this competition is $25 per student. The entry fee offsets the costs of venue and adjudicator costs. Entry fees are due before Preliminary Auditions.
If a student advances to the Finalists Recital, an accompanist will be required for their performance. No accompanist is needed for the Preliminary round. Students will pay for 2 individual preparation sessions with the accompanist: BSYO will compensate the accompanist for the time spent on January 20th for the competition.
Preliminary auditions will be held on Monday, December 16. You will be assigned a time slot. Finalists will perform on the Finalists Recital on Monday, January 20th. A winner will be named that evening.
